Chicago celebrates the South Loop in photos

The South Loop Neighbors are hosting their 10th annual Photo Contest & Show. Entry is open to the public - the deadline is July 15th. This year, a selection of the entries will show at the Chicago Community Bank in Dearborn Station then travel to other locations, including Cafe Mediterra (Old Gourmand) and Harold Washington Public Library. In addition to the great exposure, over $1000 in prizes will be awarded at the August 21st reception at the bank.

Prizes
Grand Prize $500; First Prize $250; Second Prize $100. Four photographs will be selected to create note cards. The photographer of each image selected for a card will be awarded $50.
Subject Matter
Photos must be taken in the South Loop (from Jackson to 16th and from the river to the lake) and illustrate some aspect of life, culture, or history of this neighborhood. A panel of judges will evaluate entries for artistic expression, technical merit, and how the image reflects the landscape, tone, and color of the South Loop.
Format
Photos should be finished prints, no larger than 14x16 inches. Do not matt or frame your work. Please also provide a digital image (jpg, 300 dpi at original size). Digital images can be submitted on disk or emailed to the following address: gborzo@comcast.net. If emailing your digital image, be sure to include your name, phone number, and the photo name that corresponds to the hard-copy application form that you submit.
Entry Fees
Adults: $30 for first entry and $15 for each additional entry (limit two additional). SLN members, seniors and students: $20 for the first entry and $10 each additional entry (limit two additional). Students must submit a photocopy of their current school ID.
Deadline
Photos must be delivered with an entry form and payment by 6:00 p.m. on July 15 to the Chicago Community Bank in Dearborn Station, 47 W. Polk. The Bank is open Mon. - Fri. 9-6 and Sat. 9-1.
Notification
Winners will be announced at a special reception for the exhibition on Friday, Aug. 21, at 6:30 pm at the Chicago Community Bank. All are encouraged to come and enjoy the show and refreshments as we announce the prize winners.
Exhibit
The prize-winning photos and 20 other finalists will be displayed the whole month of August at the Chicago Community Bank in Dearborn Station, as well as at other venues afterward. The touring exhibit will include the gallery at Cafe Mediterra, the Harold Washington Public Library, and other venues yet to be determined.
