October 15-29, Art Loop Open—Chicago’s new art competition—will transform ten venues throughout Chicago’s Loop into interactive public art exhibits.

You Be the Judge! Your Votes Decide Who Wins

200 local artists, selected by an esteemed jury from a pool of 750 entries, will be vying for more than $60,000 in prizes, as judged by the public.

Art Crawl – Voting Begins

Friday, October 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is encouraged to visit each venue and begin voting for their favorite artwork, while enjoying specialty "Artini" cocktails and other offerings. Many of the artists will be on hand that evening to discuss their works.

Voting

Round 1 (October 15-21): The public is urged to participate in the first round of voting, where they can vote once in support of as many pieces as they'd like utilizing smart phone applications and texting.

Round 2 (October 22-28): Following the announcement of the top ten vote recipients on Friday, October 22, the public will be invited to vote for their top selection. The three winners with the most votes will be announced at an awards ceremony, Friday, October 29, and will receive $25,000 (1st), $15,000 (2nd) and $10,000 (3rd). The winners of additional prizes, presented by organizations including the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, theWit Hotel, Palmer House, 3Arts, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., Hard Rock Hotel Chicago, and the Chicago Art Dealers Association, will also be announced.

Hub 37

Art meets technology at Hub 37, an interactive venue designed by the IIT Institute of Design that will allow the public to engage with one another and the art. Visitors to the space, located in the Pedway at Block 37, will be able to use cutting edge Surface Tables and Pivot kiosks from Microsoft to view information about art and the artists, while a live twitter feed will display tweets posted with the #ALO hashtag.
